The members of St. Fidelis Circle #364 of Victoria, Kansas celebrated their 90th anniversary of their circle (chartered on May 9, 1926) with a mass and dinner for family and friends. A May crowning was held during mass at the Basilica of St. Fidelis. Fifty-year Daughter of Isabella member, Ethel Younger, was given the honor of crowning the Virgin Mary statue. Four Capuchin priests were concelebrants for the mass and the Fourth Degree Knights served as honor guards for the procession. Four Kansas State officers and four surrounding circle members were in attendance. The festivities included various speakers, entertainment and a delicious meal. 50-year members were honored as well as those who have been members for 60 years or more, with Rosie Schulte noted as being the longest member for 71 years. Candles were lit during a special memorial service for the deceased members and chaplains.
This anniversary celebration of the St. Fidelis Circle charter illustrates the pride that the members have in the Daughters of Isabella. The local circle is the rock of our organization. Wisdom comes with experience and the test of time. Our world is ever-changing and our success, growth, and faith are tested with new challenges each day. As circles, and as individuals, our wisdom and courage to continue through those challenges, are a fine example of our motto of Unity, Friendship and Charity.
