Joan of Arc Circle #1405, Metairie, LA
Since the circle had committee to donate the stained glass window of the Circle’s patron for St Francis Xavier’s newly-built church, the circle voted to hold a new fundraiser to try to retire the debt quickly. They sponsored a “Frozen Food Fest” in June. More than 40 members of the circle (and some husbands as well) cooked up a variety of dishes and even held a few cooking parties. All the frozen fare was gathered in the school’s freezer the day before for sorting and pricing. Sales were so brisk that they wound up selling out by 2:00 pm. The almost $6,000 collected made a large dent in their debt! It was a wonderful event not only because it was a successful fundraiser, but because it allowed their members to participate in their own way from shopping, donating money, attending cooking parties, setting up for the event, pricing and checking out the customers. They are already planning for their next festival in February. Congratulations!
